I stumble upon this article on FB and I humbly agree with him.

Very insightful and very true….Take a second to read this:

Apparently the White House referred to Christmas Trees as “Holiday Trees” for the first time this

year which prompted CBS presenter, Ben Stein, to present this piece which I would like to share with you. I think it applies just as much to many countries as it does to America . . .

The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary.

My confession:

I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejewelled trees, Christmas trees. I don’t feel threatened. I don’t feel discriminated against. That’s what they are, Christmas trees.

It doesn’t bother me a bit when people say, “Merry Christmas” to me. I don’t think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn’t bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu. If people want a crib, it’s just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.

I don’t like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don’t think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from, that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can’t find it in the Constitution and I don’t like it being shoved down my throat.

Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship celebrities and we aren’t allowed to worship God? I guess that’s a sign that I’m getting old, too. But there are a lot of us who are wondering where these celebrities came from and where the America we knew went to.

In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it’s not funny, it’s intended to get you thinking.

Billy Graham’s daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her: “How could God let something like this happen?” (regarding Hurricane Katrina). Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said: “I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we’ve been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?”

In light of recent events… terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O’Hare (she was murdered, her body found a few years ago) complained she didn’t want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbour as yourself. And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn’t spank our children when they misbehave, because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock’s son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he’s talking about. And we said okay.

Now we’re asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don’t know right from wrong, and why it doesn’t bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with ‘WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.’

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world’s going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how you can send ‘jokes’ through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Are you laughing yet?

Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you’re not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it.

Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.

Pass it on if you think it has merit.

If not, then just discard it…. no one will know you did. But if you discard this thought process, don’t sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in.

My Best Regards, Honestly and respectfully,

Ben Stein

We are all familiar with this phrase – “why me?”, don’t we?

When bad things happen to us, the first thing that we may ask is “why me?”. There’s nothing wrong by asking this question, but over time I realized it is a little too selfish for me to ask that question, because if it’s not me, then it will happen to other people.

The truth is that, we can’t run away from circumstances. Things do happened without any reason, or at least we just don’t understand WHY.
1. Why good people have to suffer?
2. Where is God in all these suffering?
3. If He loves me, why bad thins happen to me?

Come on, be real… we live in a fallen world, in a sinful world. NOTHING is perfect. Bad things happen does not mean God is not real, or it doesn’t mean He does not exist. When day turns to night, does that mean the sun does not exist? NO, of course. at night it was just the absence of the sun.

When we are face with adversities, that does not rule out the existence of the Lord, neither does it tells you that God does not love you. It’s just part of life. Adversities is what make us strong, it enable us to grow. Grow in our faith and character. It sharpens us.

John 10:10
The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

I caught myself uttering these 2 words recently when my visa application to The States, that means I won’t be spending thanksgiving with my boyfriend and I won’t be able to get to know his family. I was crying and crying right in front of the embassy, I walk out of the interview room feeling super disappointed and I even forget the most important document – my Passport. First thing I did was called Greg. The 10mins waits seems like forever.

After some crying and throwing tantrum moments, I finally come to my senses. (Thank God it didn’t take long for me to cool down, else Greg will suffer hahahaha)
I remember what Nick Vujicic shares in his book – “Why not me?” I am sure there must be a reason why God allows this to happen.

God loves me, there’s no doubt about that, and that does not mean I will have everything I wanted.

But, how then can we overcome circumstance?
1. Paradigm Shift
Change the way we think. Do know that what we are going through is not unique. A lot of people went through what you are going through right now.

2. God is able, and He is still in control
Our loving God, still loves you. He is not punishing you or whatsoever. If he allows it to happen to you, He will gives you grace – enough grace to overcome it. He is still in control. Ask God for GRACE. Ask God for HELP.
His arms are not too short to reach out to you.

3. Seek Help.
Know that you are not alone. Seek help from Church… support group…. etc…

4. Allow God to heal your HEART

Most of us know who Susan Boyle is. She was stunning on that stage. Her voice is amazing. Something about Susan that I would like to draw your attention to.

She does not have the perfect look. She was a little “overage”, and she wants to be a professional singer.

When asked, why she couldn’t make it to be a professional singer, she simply answered with honesty, “there isn’t any opportunity.” The audience does not believe in her, the judges was a little cynical towards her. Everyone laughs when she said she wants to be a professional singer.

Susan did not give up on her dream, she stood boldly on the stage and proofs everyone wrong. At the end of the performance, she received loud cheer and applause from the audience as well as the judges.

My observations:

1. People can be intimidating, they could steal our dream. Even the one closest to us may not believe in us. You as a person who is responsible for your own life, you need to believe in yourself.

2. Opportunities are for those to look for it. Meanwhile while waiting, prepare yourself.

It’s Thursday, my climbing day. After not doing any climb for 10months, I must admit that my stamina, physical strength and mental strength has gone down the drain.

I resolved to pick myself up again and train as much as possible so I am able to get back in shape.

Some of the important things as a climber are:
1. Mental strength is equally as important as your physical strength. When you think you are able, you may be able to push your body to the next level.
2. Climbing partner. Climbing alone vs climbing alone has different vibe. When I am climbing alone I do hv the energy to push myself further. When I have a good climbing partner, we encourage each other and help each other to achieve the goal that we have set for the day.
3. Be discipline is doing the routine. Climbing the same route again and again able to build our confident, and always be discipline enough to work out in order to strengthen our physical strength.

Eric’s first challenge on the overhang lead wall… He rested twice, but he did it. Knowing him, he has strong will, it’s no surprise to me that he can do it. With the set of skills that he has and his mental strength, he made it to the top.

“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired and success achieved.” Helen Keller

“The most important mark of a disciple of Jesus Christ is not charisma, but godly character.”

“Many are gifted, yet the real test is a person’s character, habits, and lifestyles.”

“Charisma is important. Character is essential.”

What does the bible says about character?

Deuteronomy 8:2
Remember how the LORD your God led you through the wilderness for these forty years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character, and to find out whether or not you would obey his commands.

Philippians 1:11
May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ —for this will bring much glory and praise to God.

How character being developed?

Character is build through trials/suffering/challenges…

Romans 5:3-4
3 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. 4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.

James 1:2-3
2 Dear brothers and sisters,[a] when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. 3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.

Praise The Lord when we are going through trials, for it will help us to grow. Trials will sharpen our character and prepare us for greater works that God has plan for us. In times of difficulties that’s where our character being mold so that we are ready for anything.
